The Three-Self Patriotic Movement in China refers to autonomy, self-support and autobiography.

1949 after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), due to special reasons, Christianity in China gradually severed its religious affairs and economic ties with foreign missionary groups, thus starting a truly independent development and forming a large-scale patriotic movement of "three self-support" ("self-support", "autonomy" and "autobiography").

1950, a group of celebrities, led by representatives of the National Association of China YMCA, issued a declaration calling on Christians to sever ties with imperialism, truly implement the principles of autonomy, autobiography and self-support of the church in China, and love their country and religion. Especially because of the outbreak of the Korean War, the U.S. government announced the freezing of China's property in the United States, which caused China's church groups, which originally relied on American churches to provide subsidies, to fall into economic difficulties. Therefore, with the support of the China Municipal Government, all the church organizations and groups in China have made plans for self-reliance of churches, and soon realized the "three selves".

195 1 year, Christian factions jointly set up a Committee to push the "three-self" patriotic movement of the church to a climax.

1954, China Christian leaders and celebrities held a meeting in Beijing, and formally established the "China Christian Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee". Since then, all Christian factions in China have completely cut off contact with foreign missions and embarked on the road of independent development and patriotism.
