The Ninth Brigade of German Border Police (GSG-9 for short) is a special anti-terrorism and anti-hijacking force set up by the Ministry of the Interior in 1972. At present, its members are less than 200, with an average age of 26. The headquarters of the unit is located in St. Augustine, and the brigade is divided into four special operations squadrons. Their slogan is "Everything starts from scratch".

The members of the Ninth Brigade are very cautious and disciplined, and never shoot rashly. They are all volunteers who have served in the national defense force or the police force for more than one year. If you want to be a member of the ninth brigade, you need to pass physical examination, psychological characteristics test, sports assessment and individual conversation. The successful candidates will then receive 13 weeks of training in the suburbs of Bonn, and then decide whether the participants will stay or not after the training.

The elimination rate of this decision is usually around 60%, and the selected players have to participate in professional training for 9 weeks. The training contents include unarmed combat, shooting, blasting, weapons, knowledge, legal knowledge, psychology, police functions and so on. These skills need to be mastered by them. They are proficient in various combat tactics and can skillfully identify weapons and facilities. They also demand the best psychological quality and the strongest fighting morale at all times. They are an iron army.

Like other special forces, shooting is also an important course for them. The team requires players to hit every shot under any circumstances, and the shooting time is limited to one second. They also often conduct anti-hijacking exercises at Frankfurt International Airport, training how to approach the plane in a hidden way, giving terrorists an "unusual door" and rushing into the hijacked plane.

The basic combat units of the Ninth Brigade of the German Border Police are divided into five-person teams, because they believe that such five-person combat teams can give full play to their subjective initiative in combat.

Players often wear dark green berets in peacetime training, black titanium helmets in wartime, bulletproof vests and walkie-talkies. Considering that players are not caught by opponents in melee combat, the combat suit is designed to be tight and neat, which is more convenient to move. Another prominent feature of its officials is that they don't wear rank marks, which is to avoid the commander being too prominent in the battle and causing casualties.
