It is not accurate to say that it is a lotus pond. It is formed by connecting pools. Just standing in one place and looking up, the green is overwhelming. Lotus leaf is green and lovely, like a round umbrella stretched out on the water, and like a jasper dish on the water. The breeze blows, waves of green waves roll in, and the stems are holding the flowers standing on the water and swaying happily in the wind.
The owner of the lotus pond, surnamed Li, heard someone coming and rushed out of the humble room to greet us one by one. My friend and Lao Li are very close. From them, I know that Lao Li is a southerner and loves lotus flowers very much. He said that in his hometown, lotus flowers can be seen everywhere. When he came to Xinjiang, he always felt that they were missing something. When he contracted the pond, he took a fancy to the rich water resources here, and maybe he could transplant the southern lotus here. At first, only a small piece was planted as an attempt. Unexpectedly, lotus, which likes high temperature and humidity, can grow well in the hot and dry climate of southern Xinjiang as long as it has enough water. Lao Li was overjoyed and expanded the lotus planting area year by year. After so many years of hard work, he finally developed the lotus pond to such a scale, and this lotus pond also brought a lot of income to Lao.
Lao Li also told us that over the past few years, there have been more and more people watching lotus flowers here, and it is monotonous to watch lotus flowers alone. He also keeps some fish in the pond. People who like to fish here can fish at will as long as they pay a little. If he wants to have a picnic, he also provides pots and stoves for everyone to use.
