Since the Taiping Rebels successfully occupied Nanjing in March 1853, the heavenly king Hong Xiuquan was content to be the emperor in his mind and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the construction of the magnificent palace. Hong Xiuquan entered Nanjing at the age of 4 1 and committed suicide at the age of 52 in June, 864. He has never set foot in the palace for eleven years. Only once did he leave the palace in a sedan chair with 64 people to visit the sick East Wang Yang. This is also to consolidate power and maintain a dissolute life.
Moreover, since the occupation of Nanjing, he gradually tore off the mask of hypocrisy, and he completely abandoned the idea that "most women in the world are sisters" advocated when he wrote "Worship God". The boundary between men and women has been forcibly drawn. "Women are responsible for internal affairs and foreign affairs are not suitable for hearings." It is impossible to achieve real success under such capricious leadership, and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom is doomed to perish under such leadership.
1June, 864, Hong Xiuquan died of illness. 1July, 864, Tianjing fell, and the vigorous Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement ended in failure. More luxurious than what the emperor used, Zeng Guofan sighed: Hong Xiuquan, who will die if you die? This sounded the alarm for later rulers.
