First, the Buddha's name shows the virtue of nature. The name of chanting Buddha is to recite our own self. If we return to self-nature, we can naturally correspond to self-nature, and we will get closer and closer to returning to the source. It is a natural law that what you read will gradually correspond to what you read. As the saying goes, those who are near Mexico are black, and those who are near Zhu Zhechi are black. If both sides miss each other, there will be a kind of power to guide them together when reading deeply. The book "The Great Trend of Bodhisattva chanting Buddha in Tong Yuan" also uses a metaphor to illustrate this truth: "For example, some people are committed to remembering, while others are committed to forgetting. If it's two people, meet them if they don't meet. Two people remember each other, and two people remember each other deeply, so even from life to life, they are inseparable, not different. Ten parties come to Buddha and pity all beings, like a mother remembering her son. What do you remember if your son ran away? If the son remembers his mother, if his mother remembers his time, mother and son will be born through the calendar, which is not far away. " This metaphor refers to mother and son. If the mother misses her son, but the son runs away, without thinking about her, without induction, the two sides can't meet. If the son misses his mother at the same time, the two sides can meet. The heart here refers not to the verbal heart, but to the strong heart. When the two sides have the same mind, it can play an inductive role. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas yearn for all beings to be happy from their sufferings, but if all beings don't meditate, they won't have an induction with Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and they won't have an induction with sexual virtue.
Second, chanting Buddha is a learning method to make one's mind clean. We all have delusions and distractions. These delusions and distractions are many, which will affect our wisdom and cause trouble. To get wisdom, you must be calm and keep a clean heart. This is a commandment. Like chanting scriptures and incantations, chanting Buddha is to concentrate one's mind so as not to let it drift away, and to capture one's heart with a Buddha's name, scripture or incantation, so as not to cause chaotic fluctuations in one's mind.
Third, if the Buddha is Amitabha, there is another power, that is, Amitabha's original wish. Before becoming a Buddha, Amitabha vowed to achieve a blissful world with only joy and no bitterness. If all sentient beings are bodhicitta and recite his name without confusion, he can attract this sentient being to his western paradise. Moreover, all sentient beings who read this name should cherish all the buddhas in the world. Therefore, if the name of the Buddha we read is the name of Amitabha, it is easier to capture people's hearts with the original blessing of Amitabha and the protection of ten Buddhas. Moreover, the achievements of chanting Buddha in the future can go to the western paradise. With the blessing of Amitabha's willingness, not only can he return to his self-nature, but he can also overcome his fate to get rid of his sufferings and joys.
