Xishuangbanna is located at the southernmost tip of Yunnan, connected with the mountains and rivers of Laos and Myanmar, and close neighbors of Thailand and Vietnam, with a land area of 19096 square kilometers and a border line of 966.3 kilometers. Xishuangbanna is located in the southern extension of Hengduan Mountains, at the end of the Nujiang, Lancang and Jinshajiang fold systems, with mountains and hills accounting for about 95% and mountain basins (bazi) and river valleys accounting for about 5%. The state is high around, low in the middle, high in the northwest and low in the southeast. With the Lancang River as the boundary, it is divided into three geomorphic areas: central, western and eastern.

The vast mountains in the east run through the northeast of Jinghong City and Mengla County, with an altitude of 1000- 1500m. The west is the remnant vein of Nujiang Mountain, which is distributed throughout Menghai County. Except for a few pearl basins and low mountains, most of them are cut mountains, and the altitude of the mountains is between1500-2000 m. The middle part is eroded by the lower reaches of Lancang River and its tributaries, and cut into many open valley basins, surrounded by open low canyons and mountains, concentrated in the west, south of Jinghong City and south of Mengla County, with relatively gentle terrain, with an altitude of 500- 1000 meters.

Climatic characteristics of Xishuangbanna

Xishuangbanna is located on the northern edge of the tropics, with Ailao Mountain and Wuliang Mountain as barriers in the north, blocking the cold current from the south. The east and west sides of the south are close to the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. In summer, influenced by the southwest monsoon of the Indian Ocean and the southeast airflow of the Pacific Ocean, the climate features of high temperature and rainy, distinct wet and dry seasons and no obvious four seasons are formed. Therefore, the climate in Xishuangbanna is warm and humid all year round, and there are no four seasons, only wet and dry seasons. The dry season is from 1 1 to April of the following year, and the rainy season is from May to 10.

Xishuangbanna is abundant in rainfall and sunshine, with annual rainfall of1136-1513mm. In rainy season, it is cloudy and rainy, with low wind speed, less sunshine, high temperature and high humidity. In the dry season, there is little cloud and rain, strong sunlight and thick fog. The annual average temperature in Xishuangbanna is between 65438 08.9℃ and 22.6℃.
