The May 4th Movement was completely anti-feudal, targeting at the general representative of feudal forces, the Beiyang warlord government and the traitors who betrayed the interests of the country and the nation. The broad masses of young students, the working class, the petty bourgeoisie and a part of the bourgeoisie are United, not afraid of the power, threats and oppression of the reactionary government, and are not moved by the reactionary government, showing their determination not to give up until they reach their goals.
The anti-imperialist thoroughness shown by the May 4th Movement was not available in the previous patriotic anti-imperialist movements. These revolutionary struggles have some childish diseases, either centered on opposing feudal forces, having a certain degree of illusion about imperialism, and lacking clear anti-imperialist goals and firm anti-imperialist determination, such as the Reform Movement and the Revolution of 1911; Either they lack necessary anti-imperialist strategies, have a vague understanding of the essence of imperialism, and are blindly exclusive, such as the Boxer Rebellion. The May 4th Movement was not.
