Lu was founded by Lu, a native of Outang, Wuxi, during the Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty. Lu's two sons are named Lu and Lu respectively, which is the name of the shop.

The earliest shop that recommended Lu manuscripts was opened in Jinguoyunqiao, Wuxi. Later, Lu's eldest son went to Suzhou with his aunt to open a branch, which contributed to the recommendation of Lu's manuscript in Suzhou. Later, because there was a cottage shop in Wuxi city under the banner of landing draft recommendation, Wuxi landing draft recommendation was renamed as "real landing draft recommendation", which has been used ever since.
