What is a South African diamond?
Nowadays, when buying diamond ornaments, many people immediately ask if they are South African diamonds, and many diamond merchants also slogan that they are all South African diamonds. As a worker who has been engaged in the diamond industry for many years, I want to remind you that South African diamonds are not the only real good diamonds. The so-called "South African diamond" by merchants is the biggest misleading to consumers. Why? First of all, the quality of a diamond is determined by its 4C, which has nothing to do with the place of origin. The information about 4C has been elaborated in my previous article, so I won't repeat it here. Everyone is so deeply rooted in "South African diamonds", mainly because South Africa does produce the most "world famous diamonds" in the world, and almost 80% of the rough stones produced in South Africa can reach the gem level. Secondly, at present, about 70% of the rough diamonds in the world are concentrated in the hands of De Beers, which collects rough diamonds from all over the world and distributes them to its DTC SIGHTHOLDER, but all rough diamonds have no origin characteristics. Who can guarantee that they will distribute South African diamonds under such circumstances? Three, the world's major diamond producers are Botswana, Russia, South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Australia and Congo, followed by Australia, Congo and China, Botswana, Russia and South Africa, which account for more than 90% of the world's total diamond production, followed by Botswana, Russia, South Africa and Congo. Therefore, I advise all diamond consumers not to be deceived by the "South African diamond" cover of the merchants.
