For many people, Ford is synonymous with "sports". Ford Mustang, Focus, Mondeo, Ruijie, Yibo, Hu Yi and other SUV models are all from the United States, and the slogan of Ford's "endless entrance" reminds people of the word "sports". Not to mention the hot-blooded Mustang (once translated as "Ford Mustang") and other models have always been the heart of car lovers who pursue speed.
Before reviewing the history of mustang models, I want to say a concept: muscle car and small carriage. The so-called "muscle car" is a high-power rear-drive vehicle, with a long hood, a short tail, two doors and four seats, and a V8 engine made in the United States. "Small carriage" is the favorite name of the fans of the low-profile Mustang, that is, those Mustang models that are not V8 engines and have relatively low horsepower.
In order to continue the legendary history of Mustang, Ford decided to abandon the existing two rear-drive platforms and make a major improvement on the existing dew platform, namely the D2c platform. We can regard it as a low-cost derivative of dew platform. The biggest difference between the two platforms is the suspension system. The models under dew platform are front and rear double rocker suspension or front double rocker rear multi-link suspension, and the models under D2c platform are front McPherson rear leaf spring suspension. This is also the first time that Mustang has been developed on an exclusive independent platform since its birth.
Mustang prototype, because it is a two-seat design, failed to pass the audit of Ford executives. Ford launched a Thunderbird sports car with two seats on 1955, but the sales of Thunderbird are not good, because the two-seat design is painless and practical. Therefore, Ford executives asked Mustang to switch to a four-seat design. At this point, the development history of Mustang series cars has been introduced. After 50 years of development, Mustang is undoubtedly the most classic muscle sports car in the world. Despite the bumpy road, the wild horse has always firmly followed its own path, never compromising and never giving up easily. This is exactly what our domestic cars need to learn. Only by constantly learning and absorbing good experience can we better develop our domestic cars and keep up with the trend of world automobile development.
