To bid for the Olympic Games is, to some extent, an image-building undertaking. The first thing is to make people fall in love with this city at first sight and attract them with its unique image. Once Beijing has the opportunity to host the 2008 Olympic Games, what kind of image does it intend to create for itself?
As we all know, the Beijing Municipal Government has determined the theme of the future Olympic Games: New Beijing, Great Olympics. For me, the 2008 Olympic Games will be a great green Olympic Games, illuminated by two other special colors-yellow and red.
First of all, yellow is a meaningful color. The Yellow River is the mother river of China and the descendant of the Yellow Emperor. This color has a special origin and important significance for China people. Beijing is the capital of New China and the capital of nine dynasties in the history of China. Therefore, yellow will naturally add luster to the 2008 Olympic Games.
Secondly, the 2008 Olympic Games will be a red event. Red is another traditional precious color in the whole country. We like red. On important occasions, we like to decorate our home with red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyful moment, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe Beijing's future. Together with the whole country, Beijing has become more and more prosperous in the process of modernization. If the 2008 Olympic Games are held in Beijing, the whole city will be a red sea: red torches, red flags, red flowers, and the radiant faces of millions of happy people.
Most importantly, the 2008 Olympic Games will be a green Olympics. Adding green ingredients is very important to create an attractive image, because we can't deny the fact that Beijing is not the green city we want at present. Building a beautiful city has become the central task of all Beijing residents. Great efforts have been made to control pollution, plant trees and beautify cities. According to a project called "Green Olympics Action Plan", between 1998 and 2007, we have invested1000 billion RMB in Beijing to preserve and protect the environment. About/kloc-0.2.5 million trees and more than/kloc-0.0 million acres of grass will be planted along the Fourth Ring Road. By then, the green area of the city will account for 40% of its total area. Beijing will also use dredging as a reservoir for Beijing residents to supply water, control industrial pollution and move out of 200 factories currently located in the urban area.
Let's welcome it and look forward to it!
Thank you!
