We all know that different substances will generate static electricity when they contact, separate or rub against each other. For example, squeezing, cutting, carrying, stirring and filtering in the production process, walking, standing and taking clothes in life will all generate static electricity.

It can be seen that static electricity is everywhere in our daily life, and there are high electrostatic voltages around us, thousands or even tens of thousands of volts. These static electricity may have little influence on human body, but for some ESDS (electrostatic sensitive elements), it can directly make them lose their normal performance or even completely lose their normal function.

So ESD protection is very necessary. Combined with the concept of ESD and some experience accumulated in my work, I will talk about ESD protection from five aspects: human, machine, law, material and environment.

Talking about people. The human body can be said to be a high static power source, and the protection of human static electricity depends on shielding and releasing static electricity.

Strictly speaking, it is required to be "fully armed", that is, wear anti-static hats, anti-static masks, anti-static gloves, finger covers and so on. Wear anti-static clothes, anti-static shoes and wrist pads to shield and guide away static electricity. In short, try not to expose human skin.

Second, talk about machines. The machine is also a high electrostatic power supply, because the mechanical parts of the machine, especially the motor, are easy to produce EMI (electromagnetic induction), so it is very necessary to protect the static electricity of the machine.

The protection of machine static electricity is generally realized by eliminating electromagnetic field, shielding high static parts and grounding the machine. Generally, degaussing is to use degausser to eliminate charge with ion fan.

The degausser is very simple, so I won't introduce it. Let's look at the ion fan. The ion blower can generate a large number of positive ions and negative ions, and blow these ions to high electrostatic objects, and the static electricity of the objects will be neutralized.

These ions are generated by ionizing air by ion generating elements in the ion fan. The ion generating element is excited by a transformer with low current and high voltage to ionize air.

The transformer also includes a current-limiting resistor, which can enhance the stability and safety of ionization. High-voltage alternating current acts on the ring circuit of stainless steel ion emission point, which makes a strong alternating electric field form at the top of the emission point, ionizes the air and produces pole-changing ions.

When the electromagnetic field cannot be eliminated or is difficult to eliminate, we use electrostatic shielding equipment to shield high-static equipment or high-static parts of equipment, such as motors. As we all know, the motor is easy to produce EMI, but the machine can't run without the motor, so there is no need to shield it. There are workstations, power cords, computer keyboards, etc. , can be protected by electrostatic shielding. The shielding products available in this respect include anti-static desk mats, anti-static films, anti-static curtains, anti-static shielding bags, anti-static adhesive tapes and so on.

Finally, regardless of the shielding or degaussing effect of the machine, it is necessary to connect the machine with ESD ground wire. Third, talk about materials, that is, materials.

In a very absolute way, if your product is sensitive to static electricity, then there should be no materials with high static electricity on your production line, especially in the area near the product. Try to use antistatic materials, such as component boxes, shelves, workstations, transportation equipment, cleaning equipment, chemical reagents, etc. Finally, even the pens and notebooks you use should use anti-static pens and notebooks, because you may come into contact with them when you use a pen. Of course, if your product is not very sensitive to static electricity, it can be handled as appropriate, but it is best to prove it by ESD experiment to see if it is really safe.

Fourth, talk about the environment in the work area. Good anti-static working environment is very important for production. Such an environment is generally established as follows: first, an ESD safe operation area, that is, EPA(ESD protection area), is established, and it is best to put ESD protection warning signs at the corresponding positions.

Secondly, the placement of ESD safe operation area. Let's talk about anti-static floor system, dust removal system, grounding system and air temperature and humidity. Anti-static floor system, the most important thing is to lay anti-static floor on ordinary floor. Generally, there are antistatic PVC floors and antistatic epoxy floors. For anti-static floor, the requirements must meet the standards of the International Anti-static Association. Of course, the anti-static floor must also be connected to ESD ground wire.

Dust-free is very important in an antistatic working environment, because dust in the air will collide with each other during movement and ESD will also occur. If the dust is not removed, it will be difficult to find out the cause of ESD problem. Generally, we use a dust removal system to solve this problem.

First of all, air dust filtration system is needed, such as shower room, shower room passage, cargo shower room, dust pad, dust roller, air filter, dust-free transfer window, and dust-free room transfer window. Secondly, as far as possible, clean lamps, clean glass in the clean room, ceiling with color steel plate in the clean room, corners with color steel plate in the clean room and columns with color steel plate in the clean room are set.

The selection of the above equipment depends on the sensitivity of the product to ESD, and it is best to refer to the opinions of professionals. It is also very important to establish an independent and perfect ESD grounding system in a perfect ESD protection working environment.

In addition, all equipment, worktops, etc. It needs to be connected to the ESD grounding system in the workplace. In addition, a perfect ESD working environment has certain requirements on temperature and humidity. From the point of view of ESD protection, the higher the humidity, the better. But too high humidity will corrode the equipment, so generally speaking, 40%-60% humidity is the most ideal.

Of course, each enterprise should also decide according to the characteristics of its own products. After all, doing this job is very complicated. In addition, ceiling and wall air outlets should be set up, and the clean room should be cleaned frequently with a vacuum cleaner.

In this way, with such a working environment, let's think about whether the static electricity of human body is dissipated and introduced into the earth through electrostatic clothing, electrostatic shoes or wristbands and ESD grounding system. By controlling the temperature and humidity of the air, the static electricity in the environment is also dissipated through the floor system and introduced into the earth.
