What does the Olympic Youth Camp do?
Article 7 1 of the Olympic Charter stipulates that Olympic organizers have the responsibility to hold international youth camps during the Olympic Games. The International Youth Camp is called the Olympic Youth Camp. It is a youth cultural exchange activity under the Olympic banner, which started at 19 12 Stockholm Olympic Games in Sweden. Since the 1960s, all previous Olympic Games have organized youth camps, aiming at promoting exchanges and friendship among young people from all countries and educating them to inherit and carry forward the Olympic spirit.

Beijing Olympic Youth Camp is a large-scale youth cultural and educational exchange activity under the Olympic flag. With the active application of all-china youth federation, BOCOG decided to entrust all-china youth federation to organize the activities of the Beijing Olympic Youth Camp. On the afternoon of 01-10, 2007, the Memorandum of Cooperation on Organizing the Beijing Olympic Youth Camp was formally signed in the Olympic Press Center. Sun Yan, deputy director of the Theme Activities Department of BOCOG Culture Department, said that the youth camp project is a large-scale international cultural exchange activity. The preparatory work involves all departments of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games. During the preparatory process, we will contact with youth organizations from all walks of life. The whole work was carried out under the specific guidance and supervision of the International Olympic Games and the leadership of BOCOG.

According to the memorandum, BOCOG will entrust all-china youth federation to host the Beijing Olympic Youth Camp. The Youth Camp will be held in China International Youth Exchange Center from August 6 to 26, 2008 for 2 1 day. The total size of this youth camp is estimated to be 800 people, and the age of campers is between 16- 18, mainly composed of youth representatives from IOC member countries and regions and domestic youth representatives. This year's Youth Camp will also invite 50 disabled youth representatives from home and abroad to participate, which is the first time in the history of the Olympic Youth Camp to invite disabled youth to participate in the Olympic Youth Camp.

The theme of this youth camp will be harmony, tolerance, identity, experience and creation, and the theme slogan "Youth creates the future" will emphasize the influence of youth's innovative spirit on the future. The design of the youth Olympic activities of the Beijing Olympic Games will follow the international practice and highlight the characteristics of China. At that time, the campers will experience the Olympic Games and take part in China's historical and cultural activities. Such as watching the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games and sports competitions, sending campers to participate in the Olympic torch relay and visiting the Olympic Village. Experiencing the history and culture of China is also an important part of the activity. At that time, campers will take part in sightseeing and visiting activities organized by the organizing committee, and take part in China traditional culture classes such as martial arts, calligraphy, national crafts and China children's games. Interactive communication and self-presentation among campers will enable campers from various countries and regions to deepen their understanding and establish friendship. At that time, vivid and diverse activities such as exhibitions and talent shows of campers in their respective countries will be organized to reflect the characteristics of multicultural harmony. A specific programme of activities is currently being developed.

The plan of recruiting campers is a process in which * * * participates. The criteria for selecting young people to participate in the youth camp should seek the opinions of BOCOG and the Olympic Organizing Committees of various countries and regions, including the Youth Federation, and a selection criteria will definitely be formulated.
