SIPG Football Club, formerly known as Shanghai East Asia Football Club, is a professional football club located in Shanghai, China, with its home in Xuhui District, Shanghai. According to the title contract, its first team began to compete in the Super League in the name of Shanghai Group Football Team from the 20 13 season, and was named Shanghai Terex Team in the previous 20 12 season. Shanghai East Asia Football Club was established by Shanghai East Asia (Group) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Genbao Football Base Co., Ltd. on February 25, 2005. Xu Genbao, a famous local coach in China, is the chairman of the company and the club.

Because building "China Manchester United" has always been Xu Genbao's slogan and goal, the team is sometimes dubbed "China Manchester United". Shanghai East Asia, with young players from the former Xu Genbao Football Base as the main force, has attracted the attention of China football, and some people regard it as one of the models for training young players.
