At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, China established the educational policy of all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor. 1953 on June 30th, when Mao Zedong met with the second presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, he congratulated the young people on their good health, good study and good work.
These "young people" actually refer to young people working in all walks of life in the country, not young students. However, once Mao Zedong put forward the "three good", it was quickly applied to the education policy. The first article of "Code for Primary Schools" and "Code for Middle School Students" published by the Ministry of Education 1955 both mentioned that "try to be a good student, be healthy, do your homework well and have good conduct."
Since then, the "three good students" selection activities have been carried out nationwide. Especially in February of 1963, after Mao Zedong wrote the inscription "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng", "Learn from Lei Feng and strive for three good things" became the core activity of schools at all levels.
