With the continuous increase of traffic volume on Daqin Line and the intensive operation of 20,000-ton heavy-haul trains, the impact of wheels on rails is increasing. Li Chunhua, as a senior engineer in the line technology department of Datong Works Section, took the initiative to solve the problem of "high-density and heavy-load damage of line rails".

In order to get the first-hand data, 45-year-old Li Chunhua set up simple tents at key locations such as the curved section of Daqin Line, up and down ramps, and observed every passing train day and night. After observing and recording day and night, Li Chunhua team collected a large number of accurate technical parameters and mastered the wheel-rail relationship when heavy-haul trains were running. After numerous calculations and tests, they developed a 75 kg/m elastic rail brace to reduce the damage rate of rail parts from 5 1.3% in the past to 1 1.5% at present.

In other people's eyes, this matter has little to do with Laoqiu, but Laoqiu has a strong relationship with iron railings, and it is impossible to eat and sleep without railings. His family all said that he was "possessed". It was not until the successful development of "small sand blasting derusting equipment and pneumatic derusting tools" that Laoqiu became normal. His machines and tools can not only greatly improve the derusting efficiency, but also meet the derusting grade requirements of the new coating system.

At the same time, Lao Qiu and his colleagues also developed a "graphene functional metal surface long-term treatment material", which can penetrate the rust layer to reach the steel surface and has the ability to carry out rust prevention construction. The new coating system has improved the derusting efficiency, doubled the maintenance cycle, and ensured the safe operation of Daqin heavy-haul train to the maximum extent.
