The full name of Maldives: The Republic of Maldives (formerly Maldives, 1968, 1 1) is located in South Asia. It is an island country in the Indian Ocean and the largest coral island country in the world. It consists of more than 1200 small coral islands, of which 202 islands are inhabited. Seen from the air, it looks like a string of pearls scattered in the Indian Ocean. With an area of 300 square kilometers (excluding territorial waters), it is the smallest country in Asia.

The northeastern Maldives is 675 kilometers away from Sri Lanka, and the northern Maldives is about 1 13 kilometers away from Indian minicoy. The equatorial strait and one and a half straits in southern Maldives are the main maritime traffic routes.
