Losing 95 cents to Japan is equivalent to boycotting some products from China. This conservative thought led to the downfall of the Qing Dynasty. In the Japanese shogunate era, it was also invaded by foreign countries. The conservative shogunate banned anyone from contacting foreigners, and as a result, it was overthrown by reformists who bought guns and reformed the government.
