Los Angeles Lakers, a basketball club located in Los Angeles, California, USA, 1947 was founded in Minneapolis, and 1960 moved to Los Angeles. The name Lakers comes from another name in Minneapolis-the land of thousands of lakes, which refers to people who work or live in the Great Lakes in the northeastern United States.

By the end of the 20 14- 15 season, the Lakers had entered the playoffs 56 times, won the Western Conference championship 3 1 times and won the championship 16 times, second only to the Boston Celtics. The highest winning streak is 33 games (the highest in NBA history).
