Not a name change, but a merger. There are four districts in old Beijing: Chongwen, Xuanwu, Dongcheng and Xicheng. With the continuous expansion of Beijing, small and numerous districts are no longer suitable for development. On July 20 10, the State Council officially approved the request of the Beijing Municipal Government to adjust the administrative division of the functional core area of the capital, and agreed to cancel Dongcheng District and Chongwen District of Beijing and set up a new Dongcheng District of Beijing to replace the original Dongcheng District. Cancel Xicheng District and Xuanwu District of Beijing, set up a new Xicheng District of Beijing, and take the administrative areas of the original Xicheng District and Xuanwu District as the administrative areas of Xicheng District. After the merger, I chose to keep Dongcheng Xicheng instead of using the name of Chongwen Xuanwu, mainly for the consideration of economic strength. In 2009, the year before the merger, the GDP of Xicheng District was 65.438+050.674 billion yuan, that of Dongcheng District was 94.54 billion yuan, that of Xuanwu District was 30.882 billion yuan, and that of Chongwen District was 65.438+07.695 billion yuan.
