Yangquan is rich in mineral resources, especially anthracite, pyrite and bauxite, which is famous for its large reserves, high grade and easy mining. It is one of the largest anthracite production bases in China, one of the three bauxite production bases in China and one of the five pyrite production bases.
Relying on abundant resources, Yangquan aluminum industry has developed vigorously and become an important advantageous industry in the city. Yangquan is rich in tourism resources. There are Niangziguan, the ninth pass of the Great Wall in Wan Li, which is well-known at home and abroad, and Cangshan, where the orphan Zhao was hiding in the Spring and Autumn Period.
Yangquan City is located in the east wing of central Shanxi Province, and its geographical coordinates are1125'-144', 37 40'-38 31'. Located on the west side of the middle part of Taihang Mountain, it is connected to Dingxiang County and Wutai County of Xinzhou City in the north. It is about 106 km long from north to south and about 42 km wide from east to west.
Yangquan City is located in the eastern edge of the Loess Plateau and belongs to the eastern mountainous area of Shanxi. The territory is dominated by mountains, and the rest are hills and plains. The mountain range includes nine mountains.
