The 72nd episode of Romance of the Three Kingdoms is about the clearance of five generals under Liu Bei. The Five Tiger Generals refer to the five generals who followed Liu Bei to establish the Shu-Han regime in the Three Kingdoms period at the end of the Han Dynasty. They are Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Ma Chao, Huang Zhong and Zhao Yun. When Chen Shou first wrote The History of the Three Kingdoms, he juxtaposed five people into a biography.
