It is a private university and an ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. Qilu Institute of Technology was established in 2005, formerly known as Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University (independent college). History of running a school:

Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University was established in June 2005 in Qufu, Shandong Province. 20 13 10 Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University cooperated with Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology to establish Jinan Campus of Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University on the former site of Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology.

20 13 12, Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University applied to be renamed Qilu Institute of Technology. The application report is audited by the provincial college setting evaluation expert group, approved by the provincial government, and formally submitted to the Ministry of Education by the provincial government. The Ministry of Education organized national colleges and universities to set up evaluation experts to conduct on-site evaluation.

20/kloc-in may, 2004, Qufu Normal University and Qufu Confucius Education Development Co., Ltd. signed the Agreement on Termination of Cooperation in Holding Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University and its aftermath. On May 201April 6, Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University was changed from an independent college to an independent private undergraduate college, and it was officially renamed Qilu Institute of Technology.

20 14 May, it was formally established as Jinan Campus of Qilu Institute of Technology. On April 29th, 2022, Shandong Provincial Department of Education was identified as the first pilot unit of media integration in Shandong education system. On April 19, 2023, Qilu Institute of Technology held the inaugural meeting of the Social Science Federation.
