There are 33 competitive events (including 4 17 events), 19 mass events (including 126 events) and 543 events in the National Games.

Events: swimming (diving, water polo, synchronized swimming), archery, track and field, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, kayaking (slalom), cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics (rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline), handball, hockey, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, rugby and sailing.

The National Games is generally the national games in People's Republic of China (PRC), referred to as the "National Games". The National Games is the highest-level and largest comprehensive sports meeting in China. The events of the National Games are basically the same as those of the Olympic Games except martial arts. Its original intention is to train new people and select talents for the national Olympic strategy. The National Games is held every four years, usually around the year of the Olympic Games. The first nine National Games were held by Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong in turn.
