The four distances of interpersonal communication are public distance, social distance, personal distance and intimate distance.
1, common distance: its short distance is 12-25 feet, and its long distance is 25 feet. It is usually suitable for speakers and listeners, extremely stiff conversations between each other and informal occasions.
2, social distance: about 120-370cm, just like a table. People often use this distance to talk in the workplace, and at small receptions, it can be used to greet people who don't have much contact.
3, personal distance: 45cm- 120cm, probably reaching out and touching, although we know each other, but there is no special relationship. This is the distance most often kept in informal private conversations.
4. Intimacy distance: it is the smallest interval or almost no interval in interpersonal communication, usually called intimacy, and its intimacy range is within 6 inches (about 15 cm).
