The National Flag Guard consists of 36 national flag guards, who are responsible for raising and lowering the national flag every day. On "1" (i.e. 1,1,2 1) and major festivals, military bands play the national anthem live.
In order to better maintain the order of Tiananmen Square, from June 1 day, 2004, the duty time of the Tiananmen National Flag Guard to raise the national flag three times a month was changed to June 1 day, and 36 members of the National Flag Guard and 62 members of the military orchestra performed the national anthem three times as before.

The Tiananmen National Flag Guard, formerly known as the Tiananmen National Flag Class of the Armed Police, took over from the China People's Liberation Army Garrison on February 28th 1982, and officially took on the task of raising and lowering the national flag and guarding the flag post in Tiananmen Square. 1990 the State Council and the Central Military Commission awarded the Tiananmen National Flag Class the honorary title of "National Flag Guard". 1 991may1day, the flag class was expanded into the Tiananmen National Flag Guard of the Armed Police.
With the approval of the CPC Central Committee, from 20 18 1, the China People's Liberation Army will be responsible for guarding and saluting the national flag. The Tiananmen National Flag Guard of the Armed Police completed its historical mission and handed it over to the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
