Reflections on Silent Spring 1
Protecting the environment means protecting human beings.
After reading Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, I have some feelings.
The first "fable of tomorrow" in the book is about the destruction of nature and the reasons why people get sick after the arrival of residents in a beautiful American town. In fact, the whole book is explaining the fact that protecting the environment means protecting yourself.
I think nature has given countless gifts to human beings, but it is not that human beings ask for more from it without restraint. But also destroys the laws of nature, which not only makes human beings face the danger of resource depletion, shortened life span and frequent diseases. Most books focus on chemicals, mainly pesticides.
Looking at China, it is not only pesticides that pollute the environment in China, but also the daily discharge of various humble factories that pollute the river. Excessive logging, extensive mining of coal mines, emission of waste gas, use of heavy metals, etc ... all put China in great danger.
Take care of the flowers of our motherland. We shouldn't litter or waste food and other things that care for the environment. We should study hard to become the pillars of the country and make outstanding contributions to environmental protection. And always remind people around you to take care of the environment.
I hope Silent Spring can arouse more people's deep thoughts. For the sake of mankind and our mother earth, we should always remember that "protecting the environment means protecting mankind".
Thoughts on Silent Spring 2
Spring, a season full of vitality and the revival of everything, is full of vitality everywhere, and animals are also full of vitality. However, in a remote country, this is not the case.
This country is called the future. In the spring here, everything died. Willows hang their heads, long branches and flowers are not so bright. This color is hard to see in this country. There are few trees and flowers here. All you see are bare roads.
Although it is prosperous and technologically advanced, people are not happy because there is no real nature. Although people here have convenient transportation, they can't breathe fresh air. Although it is spring, there is no noise when everything recovers, but there is a dead silence.
It was none other than the people here who caused this scene. Their over-cultivation, grazing, planting and over-construction have destroyed the beautiful nature beyond recognition.
It is they who let the nature they live in disappear a little bit and complain about the bad environment. It is they who make nature unable to resist natural disasters and complain about frequent disasters. It is they who make the air they breathe more and more turbid and complain about the lack of oxygen on the earth.
This country is our future.
Nowadays, human beings have seriously damaged nature. If mankind does not wake up, in fifty years, our world will be as sad as this country.
Without the hustle and bustle of spring, without flowers and trees, without fresh air, people are left with only regret and dead silent spring!
Reflection on Silent Spring 3
When I opened the Chinese version of this book and saw the preface written by Vice President Al Gore for Silent Spring, I was suddenly surprised. As an elected government official, I feel inferior in the preface of Silent Spring, because it is a monument and provides irrefutable evidence that the power of thought is stronger than that of politicians. In the 1960s, the United States began to have a sense of environmental protection, and a vigorous environmental protection movement appeared. However, when we turn our eyes to China in the 20th century, it is easy to find that our country is now following in the footsteps of the United States because of people's selfishness and unfavorable government supervision.
The environment is very important to the species living in it. As a member of nature, while lamenting the progress of science and technology, human beings constantly ignore the fact that the number of wild animals and plants is gradually decreasing. As mentioned in Silent Spring, our environment is a complex, precise and highly unified system, which links all kinds of life together, and we can no longer ignore it silently. The situation it faces is as dangerous as a person standing on the edge of a cliff and blindly flouting the law of gravity. For the creatures who live with us on the earth, because of our human selfishness, their right to enjoy sunshine and rain and dew is being deprived by us crazily, and we dislike them as much as the militarists who disturbed the world in World War II. If we abandon the law of human beings and adopt the law that all living things in nature have sunshine, rain and dew and the right to exist, human beings should have been extinct long ago because of crimes against other species. In fact, apart from humanitarianism, we can easily find that wanton pollution of the environment is also poisoning ourselves and future generations. Ironically, only a few people are aware of this danger, and even fewer people actively call for and stop things that harm us and our future. A survey in the 1990s in the United States showed that the emergence of a large number of pesticides imitating estrogen increased the incidence of testicular cancer in the United States by 50% in 20 years. In other words, due to the worldwide abuse of pesticides, the number of sperm in the world has decreased by 50%. In addition, some pesticides may damage the liver, and we may become extremely vulnerable in the future. If all animals are profit-seeking, including humans, then polluting the environment is undoubtedly extremely stupid.
Reflections on Silent Spring 4
After reading the book Silent Spring carefully, my mood inevitably becomes heavy. The abuse of dtt, aldrin, 24-D, dieldrin, endrin, antiviral, heptachlor, bhc and other chemicals has caused an unbearable burden to the once powerful earth. In the past, people and birds, blue sky and flowers were in harmony.
It may be difficult to restore the scene. The happy childhood that originally belonged to children playing in the fields may only appear in the next Andersen fairy tale. Seeing the life of Nanshan leisurely under the hedge of ancient Tao Yuanming picking chrysanthemums may really become an elusive dream. We must make progress. Are we patient with this? The obligation of patience gives us the right to know and change the status quo.
If you want to change the present situation in China, I think you will encounter difficulties like rachel carson's, even more than her. China's huge population makes it difficult to carry out this environmental protection action. Secondly, the characteristics of China also make the implementation of the plan difficult. But for ourselves and our future, this work is necessary and urgent. In Silent Spring, there are many examples of using plants and animals in the natural environment to control pests and diseases. I think this is a very good inspiration, and it can be said to be the most economical and least harmful method to the environment, because narrow-spectrum pesticides will kill some innocent animals and plants no matter how small the scope of action is. Of course, it is not unreasonable to replace ordinary pesticides with biological agents, but the generally higher price of biological agents may make people change their minds in the implementation of the plan. In fact, pest control in China is still in the stage of using pesticides. At this stage, it may be necessary to formulate stricter standards to limit the use of pesticides, strengthen the publicity of pesticides' harm to the environment, increase the investment in agricultural personnel training and increase the welfare allowance of agricultural scientific and technological personnel to alleviate environmental conflicts. But sadly, the implementation effect is not ideal. But our patience has reached the limit, and we urgently need action to save our land in China, instead of general slogans.
Finally, I have to say that reading the book Silent Spring is a process in which one's mind is constantly impacted. In reading, people's whole body hair will stand up from time to time, which will make you feel pity for wild animals and make you reflect on the impact your daily behavior will have on the environment. ...
Reflections on Silent Spring 5
Environmental damage, environmental problems, environmental protection and other environment-related words are mentioned more and more in our lives. As geography teachers, we are more obligated to understand, recognize, analyze and solve our environment.
With the passage of time, classroom study and life experience gradually made my understanding of environmental issues more objective. One of the most important points is to restrict the development of the environment, that is, (economy). Let's give a simple example: "When personal interests conflict with collective interests, many people subconsciously choose personal interests." Among them, in order to increase GDP income, the government turned a blind eye to environmental problems and ignored them, and there was no corresponding policy to keep up in time. The environmental protection department can't exercise great power. Therefore, environmental governance often lags behind. Only when environmental problems really directly endanger people's production and life will solutions be put forward, because the investment in environmental governance may have been far greater than >: GDP growth.
Today, I read Silent Spring under the recommendation of my colleagues. As we all know, this is the first book in the world that directly raises environmental issues, and it has been criticized by people before and after publication. However, the strong Rachel. Carson published this book under great pressure, which opened a chapter for human beings to understand and protect the environment.
In the book, Rachel. Carson used concrete examples to illustrate the various influences of environmental problems on our production and life. Among them, one sentence she said made me remember especially new: "It is difficult for people to recognize the devil they created."
In modern society, the process of environmental protection from human contempt to attention and then to attention is also the development process of human understanding. We humans have been destroying the environment on a large scale since the steam engine era, especially the industrial revolution, two world wars and industrial society in recent decades. Until recent decades, environmental protection has gradually been valued by everyone. After all, the core of environmental protection, sustainable development, is to consider environmental protection while developing economy. Therefore, this method of focusing on long-term interests is difficult to be accepted by most people who only look at immediate interests.
Now, after nearly half a century of practice, it has been proved that the relationship between human beings and the environment, the emergence of eight public hazards, the leakage of nuclear power plants, the large-scale occurrence of acid rain, the expansion of desertification, the large-scale destruction of forest vegetation, the mass extinction of biological species, the emergence of greenhouse effect, the destruction of ozone and the crisis of water resources. .........................................................................
Fortunately, with the idea of sustainable development deeply rooted in people's hearts, the rise of environmental organizations around the world, and the emergence of a large number of environmentalists, I believe that our earth will become more and more beautiful.
Let's join hands to protect our only home-the earth.
