Why is our country called People's Republic of China (PRC)?
The name "China people * * and the Republic of China" comes from1June, 949 to1June, and the first plenary session of the Preparatory Committee of the New Political Consultative Conference was held in Qinzheng Hall, Zhongnanhai, Beiping. At the meeting, Mao Zedong announced the people's democracy in China and the establishment of China. At the end of the speech, Mao Zedong shouted three slogans, one of which was: People's Democracy in China and Long Live China! So, how did the original country name of People's Republic of China (PRC) change to the official name of People's Republic of China (PRC)? Here is a story that embodies the solemn discussion and careful consideration of the delegates at the first plenary session of the CPPCC. At that time, the state system of new China was defined as the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class (through the * * * production party) and based on the alliance of workers and peasants. At the same time, the political system of new China is determined to be the people's congress system of democratic centralism, and the parliamentary system of separation of powers in the West is not adopted. These basic issues about the founding of the country have been publicized and explained to representatives from all walks of life at the preparatory meeting of the new CPPCC, and they are basically agreed. Just for the upcoming new China, there is no official name. The Central Committee of China and Mao Zedong are usually used to calling themselves "People's Republic of China (PRC)". Accordingly, in the organizational regulations agreed and drafted by the Preparatory Committee of the new China People's Political Consultative Conference, there is a plan to establish the People's Democratic Republic of China, and the fourth group headed by Dong was appointed to draft the organic laws of the People's Democratic Republic of China and the Central People's Government. In the process of drafting various documents at the preparatory meeting of the new CPPCC, some representatives put forward different views on the original country name. Lei Jieqiong said that if a country's name is too long, it can be abbreviated instead of full name. The opinions of Mr. Huang Yanpei and Mr. Zhang Zhirang were compiled into a written report and put forward: "It seems that the name of our country can be changed from the original People's Democratic Republic to the People's Democratic Republic, or the Democratic Republic for short. When it enters the socialist stage in the future, it will be renamed as a socialist democratic country in China. " Zhang Xiruo, a professor in Tsinghua University, questioned the original proposed country name and expressed a third opinion. Zhang Xiruo said: "Some old gentlemen think that the name of people's democracy in China is too long. They said that the word democracy should be deleted. I think it's called China People's Democracy. " The fourth group summarized the opinions of country names into three names and left them to the drafting Committee of the government organization law for consideration. It was revised and adopted by the third plenary meeting of the group in August 17 as the first draft of the organic law. In this first draft, the word "democracy" has been deleted from the new country name. On September 22nd, Dong made a report on the drafting process and basic contents of the Organic Law of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China at the first plenary session of the China People's Political Consultative Conference. The report makes several explanations on the general outline of the draft organic law. The first point is about the country name. Dong said that in the past, many people used People's Republic of China (PRC) to write articles or make speeches. Mr. Huang Yanpei and Mr. Zhang Zhirang wrote an abridgement and advocated using People's Republic of China (PRC). In the discussion of the second plenary session of the fourth group, Mr. Zhang Xiruo thought that the People's Democratic Republic of China was better than People's Republic of China (PRC). We now use the last name. Because * * * and China explained our national system, the word "people" in new-democratic China today refers to the four classes of industry, agriculture, petty bourgeoisie, national bourgeoisie and patriotic Democrats. Now that we have a clear explanation and expressed the meaning of people's democratic dictatorship, there is no need to repeat the word "democracy". CPPCC plenary meeting accepted this opinion. In several documents submitted to the General Assembly, the original People's Democratic Republic of China was changed to the People's Democratic Republic of China.
