Topography of Kaifeng city
Kaifeng is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, with flat terrain and fertile soil, mostly clay, loam and sandy soil, which is suitable for planting various crops. In Kaifeng, the riverbed of the Yellow River is rising due to sediment deposition, forming a "suspended river" with the river higher than the city.
In the underground of Kaifeng, due to the flood of the Yellow River, several ancient capital cities and Fuzhou city were deeply buried 3 meters to 12 meters underground, and six cities were layered, including three capitals, two provincial capitals and 1 city, which constituted a rare city-to-city landscape in China.
