Nearly 600 representatives and invited representatives from 3/kloc-0 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government attended the meeting. In three days, they will sum up the work of the Chinese Buddhist Association since the Seventh National Congress, put forward future tasks and goals, and elect a new governing body.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Wang Zuoan said that Buddhism, as one of the main religions in China, has a long history, fine traditions and rich traditional cultural resources, and has a wide and important influence so far.

Wang Zuoan particularly emphasized the maintenance of the normal order of Tibetan Buddhism. He pointed out that the struggle against the Dalai clique is not a question of religious belief or not, but a major political struggle against separatism and safeguarding the reunification of the motherland and national unity.
