How to use a custom DNS server
Sometimes we will encounter the situation that QQ WeChat chat is normal but the webpage can't be opened. At this time, the domain name server (hereinafter referred to as DNS) in the network usually fails. Here's how to use customized DNS.

As we all know, when we visit a web page, we always enter abc.com and other web addresses, but all kinds of network devices only recognize the IP address when exchanging and transmitting information, and the function of DNS is to give the actual IP address of the web address to the visitors, so that we can open a web page. And when the currently used DNS server goes on strike, that is, we can play QQ WeChat but can't open the webpage.

Then, in order to open the web page when the DNS server attacks, we can simply and rudely replace the current DNS server, so as to achieve the purpose of converting the web address into an IP address (abbreviated as resolution) for surfing the Internet. Next, the operation steps of switching DNS are introduced.

Note: This is a recommended step, and you can choose to skip it.

First, we need to get some IP addresses of public DNS. At present, the common public DNS are as follows:

Then, press Win+r and enter cmd:

Enter ping, for example:

Ping the public DNS servers you know in turn, then choose the fastest two, write them down, and then enter the second step;

First, enter the router settings page according to your router instructions. However, the general operation is to enter:

Click Enter, and the browser will automatically enter the router settings page. Some older routers will pop up a dialog box asking for the administrator name and password:

Enter the DNS of your choice, click Save, and then restart the router for it to take effect. However, in order to ensure that it works properly, you need to disconnect the current network and then reconnect it.

The settings of the new router are as follows:

First, open the router settings page in the same way as the old router, except that the management password is directly entered on the login page:

I am the router of TP here. After entering, open the settings page:

Setup page

Fill in the custom DNS in the advanced settings, then click Save, and then restart the router and computer network. Please refer to the instructions of the router to find out how to restart the router.

Open the control panel and enter the control panel \ Network and Internet \ Network and * * * Enjoy Center, as shown in the following figure:

Then we can see a list of networks, and click on the networks behind "Connect" (generally local connection, broadband connection, wireless network and Bluetooth network), as shown in the following figure:

Click Properties, and then double-click Internet Protocol Version (4):

Then fill in the custom DNS, and then click OK:

However, in the case of using a router, I suggest modifying the DNS settings of the router, because there is no need to set it for a separate device. At the same time, if the automatically obtained DNS is used normally, there is no need to modify the DNS.

DNS is a necessary link to access the Internet. Therefore, some lawless elements (including some network operators) tamper with DNS and let users visit a modified (usually advertised) or fake webpage instead of the real official website. This behavior makes the user's online experience poor, or the webpage can't be opened, and even causes account theft and various property losses. This behavior is called DNS hijacking. If your network has such hijacking behavior, it is recommended to replace a reliable DNS server.
