Lin Fengmian was born in Gegongling Village, Baigong Town, Meijiang District, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. Love painting since childhood, 19 years old went to France to work and study.

Lin Fengmian, who just graduated from middle school, received a letter from Lin, a classmate of Meizhou Middle School, and learned the news of studying in France, so he bid farewell to his father and went to Shanghai to study with Lin as the sixth batch of students studying in France.

When they transferred to the National Institute of Advanced Art in Dijon, France, Lin Fengmian was greatly appreciated. In September, they transferred to the Paris National Institute of Advanced Art, where they were able to study in Colmont's studio, and were widely exposed to various art forms and "Oriental art" considered by European art circles at that time.

After returning to China, he became the president and professor of the National Beiping Art College.

From 65438 to 0928, Lin Fengmian was invited by Cai Yuanpei to Hangzhou to preside over the establishment of the National Academy of Fine Arts (later China Academy of Fine Arts) and served as its president. After liberation, he worked as a painter in China Painting Academy. Lin Fengmian settled in Hong Kong in 1970s and held a solo exhibition in Paris from 65438 to 0979, which was a great success. His works include Sunny Spring, Riverside, Ladies, Scenery, Still Life and so on. He is the author of China's New Painting Theory and published Lin Fengmian's Painting Collection.

With the appreciation and promotion of Cai Yuanpei, the academic leader and founder of the college, he was appointed as the first president of the National Academy of Art, the first art college in China. He advocated the educational concept of "inclusiveness and academic freedom", and recruited talents in an eclectic way. In order to carry forward Mr. Lin Fengmian's noble feelings and artistic spirit, China Academy of Fine Arts has set up the "Lin Fengmian Scholarship" since 20 10 to encourage outstanding graduate students who study hard, have the courage to innovate, pursue artistic career persistently and actively participate in artistic creation and research.

Influenced by Cai Yuanpei's aesthetic education thought, Lin Fengmian inherited the wave of the May 4th New Culture Movement, advocated the Art Nouveau Movement, and actively shouldered the heavy responsibility of improving and perfecting people's morality through aesthetic education, thus promoting social change and progress. He was determined to innovate art education, invited Qi Baishi, a carpenter-turned-painter, to the podium, hired a French professor, Claude, to teach western painting, and put forward slogans such as "promoting the art that the whole nation and all walks of life like".
