World Glaucoma Day is a global initiative jointly sponsored by the World Glaucoma Federation and the World Federation of Glaucoma Patients, aiming at improving the awareness rate of glaucoma. March 6th, 2008 was chosen as the first "World Glaucoma Day".

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world. However, it is hidden. In developed countries, half of glaucoma patients don't know that they have glaucoma, while in developing countries, more than 90% of glaucoma patients don't know their own diseases or even have never heard of glaucoma.

World Glaucoma Day is set up to inform the public of the concealment of glaucoma, and actively cooperating with glaucoma treatment and follow-up can reduce the risk of vision loss; At the same time, inform the families of glaucoma patients to participate in glaucoma screening, hoping to find out early through screening and encourage the public to have regular eye examinations, especially those with risk factors.
