This holiday, I reread the book No Excuses. Different from the past, this time, as a reserve officer of the People's Air Force, I have carefully studied every word and sentence with a responsibility and obligation.
"No excuses" is the most important code of conduct pursued by the United States Military Academy at West Point for 200 years. It emphasizes that every student tries his best to complete any task, rather than making excuses for not completing the task, even if it seems reasonable. It embodies a perfect execution ability, an attitude of observing honesty and a responsible professionalism, and its core is professionalism, responsibility, obedience and honesty.
There is a long-standing tradition in West Point Military Academy that when an officer asks a question, there are only four answers: "Yes, sir!" " "Report sir, no!" "Report sir, I don't know!" "Sir, there is no excuse!" Besides, you can't say another word. According to the American Business Yearbook, among the top 500 enterprises in the world after World War II, West Point Military Academy has trained more than 1000 chairmen, more than 2,000 vice-chairmen and more than 5,000 general managers and directors. No business school has produced so many excellent management talents.
Seeing this, we can't help sighing why West Point Military Academy has trained so many talents. Yes, just because every student at West Point has a saying in his heart: "No excuses!" It makes every student understand that there is no excuse for work, no excuse for failure and no excuse for life.
"No excuses" seems absolutely unfair, but life is not always fair. West Point is to make students understand that no matter what happens, they should learn to be responsible for all their actions! Students are only young military students at school, but in the future they will shoulder the life and death of themselves and others and even the security of the whole country. Where else can you find excuses in "Success or Death"? Even if we finally find an excuse for failure, what can we do? The training of "no excuses" makes West Point students develop fearless determination, strong perseverance, perfect execution and confidence and belief in grasping every minute and completing any task in a limited time.
Unfortunately, however, in our life and work, we often hear excuses of one kind or another. Excuses whisper in our ears, telling us why we can't or can't do something well. They seem to be "rational voices" and "reasonable explanations", and when we are late for work, we will have excuses such as "traffic jam on the road", "watch stopped" and "too many things at home today". If the business fails to develop, there will be excuses such as "the system fails", "the policy fails" and "I tried my best". There is an excuse for doing something wrong and an excuse for not completing the task. As long as you look for it, excuses are everywhere. If you can't do one thing well, you can't complete a task. There are thousands of excuses to respond to you, support you, support you. Complaining, shirking, getting angry and being sarcastic have become the best relief. An excuse is a "shield" to perfunctory others and forgive yourself, and a "universal device" to cover up weaknesses and shirk responsibilities. How many people spend precious time and energy on how to find a suitable excuse and forget their duties and responsibilities!
Many times we often complain about some external conditions, even our IQ. In fact, when we complain, we are actually making excuses for ourselves, and the only advantage of making excuses is to comfort ourselves. But this kind of comfort is fatal. It makes you indifferent to the existing situation and gives you a psychological hint: I can't overcome the difficulties caused by objective conditions. Under the guidance of this psychological suggestion, you no longer think about ways to overcome difficulties and complete tasks, even if you can easily achieve your goals from another angle.
Making excuses is procrastinating and giving up what you have done, which will make you lose the trust of others, including your boss and friends. Friends are the most precious wealth. Friends are not only spiritual comfort, but also your right-hand man in your career. If you are always late for appointments, your friends will not abandon you, but they can tolerate you. If one day, your friend wants to develop his own career and needs to seek a partner, he will definitely think of you, but on second thought, he will veto you because he thinks you are not trustworthy in your career.
Excuses may be a way of life and a unique state of existence, but it is the super vitality of this state that makes most people who were originally capable of becoming excellent people defeated by excuses, but they still don't know it!
The ideological connotation expressed by "no excuses" is far more profound than the literal meaning. It is not only a slogan put forward by West Point Military Academy to all students, but also a reflection on the work attitude and way that inspires all of us, and it is also a life principle that we need to pursue all our lives. "No excuses" is a concentrated expression of dedication, obedience and work execution. As far as we are concerned, we should never forget our responsibilities at any time in our work, and we should be meticulous in any position. Don't try to find any excuses or prevarication for yourself, because a truly dedicated person doesn't need any excuses.
The ancients said: "Don't do it with small goodness, don't do it with small evils." Don't make excuses because things are too complicated. As the saying goes, nothing is impossible. Like Ikevali, a marathon runner, although the race had already ended and the whole stadium was almost empty, his legs were covered with blood and he ran to the finish line with bandages on. When someone asked him, he just replied softly, "My country didn't let me listen to the starting gun, but let me finish the race." What an ordinary and simple language, but it explains his loyalty to the motherland and the maintenance of the honor of the motherland, which makes people all over the world admire him. "No excuses" seems indifferent, but it can stimulate a person's potential. No matter who is working, there is no need for any excuse, whether it is failure or mistake, no matter how good the excuse is, no matter how good the excuse is, finding an excuse is to pass on the responsibility that one should bear to society or others. In the long run, our responsibilities will disappear with these excuses. "Don't judge heroes by success or failure" is a very objective statement. As long as you do your best, do your duty, always keep a positive heart and never give up easily, you will still be a successful person in people's minds.
Having said that, I have to mention a special profession-soldiers. This sacred and special profession is always associated with responsibility, glory and country.
These three words can make me firmly face the moment of weakness and bravely face the moment of fear, and let me know that when I have tried or failed, I am proud, I will persevere in my struggle and succeed, and I can be modest and not proud; Don't replace words, don't covet enjoyment, but face the pressure brought by difficulties and challenges; Learn to stand up bravely in the storm and sympathize with those who fall; Take care of yourself before leading others.
I remember the day when I first entered the university gate, and my heart was full of excitement and a beautiful vision for my ideal. However, on the first day of military training, the instructor's blow made me reposition myself. No matter whether I was born noble or humble, poor or rich, and my grades were relatively excellent, our aura was taken off. All the people who come here are ordinary soldiers, a soldier who takes responsibility for the interests of the country and the people. The duty of a soldier is to obey orders. Hard training has given us strong perseverance; The implementation of passwords has taught us that soldiers should have "no excuses". This reminds me of the touching scenes of the revolutionary predecessors: Dong Cunrui laid down his life to bomb the bunker, Huang Jiguang tried his best to block the gun, and Qiu's soul lived forever in the fire ... They explained the meaning of "no excuse" to a soldier, a country and a nation with their own actions, and the responsibility, honor and country were vividly displayed by the revolutionaries of the older generation, setting a good example for our future generations.
As a national defense student and soldier, No Excuses means a lot to me. It lets me know that in my future work, study and training, I should always bear in mind "responsibility, honor and the motherland", complete every task with high quality, truly "no excuses" and do my best for the motherland and the people.
