coachable, with an open mind
encouraged his ministers to remonstrate, and he was also happy with coachable, and he dared to mend his ways. This was the greatest highlight of Emperor Taizong and the foundation of his life's virtue. Without this, he was at best just a successful founding monarch, just like Liu Bang, Emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu, Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin and others.
After the death of Wei Zhi, a famous minister, Emperor Taizong mourned him, saying: "People can look at copper as a mirror, dress their clothes correctly, look at the past as a mirror, see the rise and fall (ups and downs), and look at people as a mirror to know the gains and losses; Wei Zhi didn't, I died a mirror. " This is a famous saying widely read by later generations, but there are some inaccuracies here. In fact, Emperor Taizong did not use Wei Zhi as a mirror to examine his own gains and losses. The mirror he used for reference was actually Yang Guang, Emperor Yangdi. Wei Zhi is just a good supervisor who has a good eyesight and dares to correct Taizong's mistakes.
