Man: Happy Earth Day: Thank you, but you can only write a composition on April 22nd.
Earth Day on April 22nd every year marks the birth of 1970 modern environmental protection movement. The peak of American hippies and flower girl culture, 1970 brought the Beatles' last album jimi hendrix and Simon & garfinkel's Bridge in Muddy Water. Protest is the order of the day, but saving the earth is not the reason. When the war broke out in Vietnam, students all over the country became increasingly opposed to it. At that time, Americans were inhaling leaded gasoline through large V8 cars. Industry emits smoke and sludge without worrying about legal consequences or adverse pressure. Air pollution is generally regarded as a symbol of prosperity. The word "environment" appears more often in spelling bees than in the evening news. Although mainstream American society is still indifferent to environmental issues, rachel carson's best-selling book Silent Spring (1962) published in The New York Times has created conditions for change. This book represents a watershed in the modern environmental protection movement, with more than 500,000 copies sold in 24 countries. Before that, Ms. Carson was able to raise public awareness and concern about biological organisms, environment and public health more than anyone else. Earth Day 1970 uses the emerging consciousness to guide the energy of the anti-war protest movement and put environmental issues in the first place and center.
