Helmut Moltke was a German strategist, military theorist, marshal, and famous military strategist. He was born in Parshim, a small town in Mecklenburg, in 1800, into a declining aristocratic family. His father was a Prussian officer. After Prussia was attacked by Napoleon, he served in the Danish army.
