The Prince is a political work written by Italian politician and thinker Niccolò Machiavelli, which was first published in 1532.
The Prince is a theoretical summary of hundreds of years of "political experiments and drastic changes" in Florence and even Italy, as well as Machiavelli's own political experience for many years. This paper expounds Machiavelli's theory of absolute monarchy and imperial power, sums up the reasons for the division of Italy in the long-term war, and puts forward a plan to realize risorgimento-to establish a powerful centralized country. This paper attempts to put Dante's thought of great unity and monarchical power into practice, go as far as possible into political issues, and directly propose various methods to the monarch.
Thought of works
The whole book discusses the question of "what is the monarchy, what kinds are there, how to obtain it, how to maintain it, and why it will be lost". For the discussion of this series of questions, the author abandons the dogmatic reasoning method of medieval religion, and from the perspective of historical experience, based on the basic assumption that "human nature is evil", thinks that the birth of a country is out of the needs of human nature itself, not the will of God, thus denying the divine right of the monarch.
He boldly separated politics from ethics, thinking that the basis of politics is no longer ethics, but should be replaced by power. This book consists of 26 chapters. The first chapter 1 1 discusses how the monarch should rule and maintain, emphasizing that it is easy to protect the country with power, but it is difficult on the contrary, and the monarch mainly wins by cruelty and blackmail; Chapter 12- 14 makes it clear that the army is the main foundation of all countries, and the monarch mainly owns his own army, and war, military system and training are the only majors of the monarch. Chapter 12 is the focus of the book, which comprehensively demonstrates Machiavelli's surgical treatment theory.
