Sojena Therus (formerly Isabella Van Wagener) is an American evangelist and reformer. Originally a black slave. During their slavery, Sojena and her five children were treated mercilessly by her master. After the abolition of slavery in New York State in 1827, Sojena began to devote herself to evangelical missionary work, and added the ideas of abolition of slavery and feminism to the missionary work. Sojena Therus actively struggled against the unjust system in the society at that time and became one of the representatives of American human rights defenders in the 19th century.
