Decadence, or decadence, is a literary reflection of European bourgeois intellectuals' dissatisfaction with society and their inability to resist in the second half of the 9th century. Its ideological basis is subjective idealism and irrationalism. The name "decadent school" was originally used to refer to a group of bohemian young French poets. 1986, Wei Erlun founded Decadence magazine, which advocated "art for art's sake", unilaterally emphasized the super-utilitarianism of art, especially sought inspiration from human abnormal emotions and themes related to death and terror, and denied the social role of literature and art. This tendency was later manifested in different forms in various modernist schools such as aestheticism, expressionism and futurism in Britain. Decadence is a complex and contradictory phenomenon, which is the product of the bourgeois spiritual crisis, so many writers are influenced by it, such as Wilde and Brock, so it is difficult to simply use it to summarize a certain literary genre or writer.
