1. Place hope in the future
In 1925, Lu Xun wrote in a letter to his wife: "The best prescription is the so-called hope, which is in the future." He pointed out that Chinese people do not take the initiative to seek changes when encountering anything. Instead, they only place their hope in the future and have an attitude of resignation. It is this blindly optimistic attitude that has paralyzed the thinking of Chinese people for thousands of years, and is also one of the reasons why the modern reform movement has been unable to move forward.
2. Numbness and ignorance
Lu Xun once said frankly that before writing "The True Story of Ah Q", the image of Ah Q had been brewing in his heart for a long time. The reason why he engaged in literary creation was to awaken the ignorant people.
3. Cowardice, bullying and fear of the strong
“A true warrior dares to face the bleak life and faces the dripping blood.” This is Mr. Lu Xun’s famous saying. Lu Xun deeply felt that some people, especially old literati, lacked the courage to face reality.
4. The numb is the winner
“There are walls everywhere in China, but they are invisible, like a ‘ghost hitting a wall’, so you can ‘touch’ it at any time.” This is a summary of the "painful" experience and the author's keen insight into Chinese society.
5. Cold-blooded
"The joys and sorrows of human beings are not the same. I only think they are noisy." This passage comes from "The Collection of Alone", written in 1926. This year, the "March 18th Massacre" occurred in China, which killed 47 people. It was also in this year that Lu Xun fell in love with Xu Guangping.
