Creation background:
This poem was written during Liu Zongyuan's exile in Yongzhou (AD 85-815). In the year of Yongzhen Yuan in Tang Shunzong (85), Liu Zongyuan participated in the Yongzhen Innovation Movement launched by Wang Shuwen Group, and the reform soon failed. Liu Zongyuan was demoted to Yongzhou Sima and exiled for ten years. The oppression of the sinister environment did not crush him. He showed the value and ideal interest of life through poetry.
Appreciation:
Jiang Xue is a five-character quatrain written by Liu Zongyuan in the Tang Dynasty. This ancient poem shaped the image of an old fisherman fishing alone in the snow, showing the poet's lofty, aloof and tenacious character, and showing his feelings of not wanting to go along with the authorities.
The first two sentences of the poem "Qian Shan" describe that although there are many mountains, not even a bird has flown away, and "Wanjing" describes many roads, but there are not even a footprint. The mountains and roads are covered with snow, and the whole world looks very cold and silent. This is the background of the old fisherman's fishing, and the last two sentences describe the old fisherman's fishing scene, which is the main body of the picture.
"Alone boat" means that there is only one boat on the river, and "fishing alone" means that there is only one person on the boat, an old fisherman in coir and hat, fishing alone on the snowy river. This unconventional image of the old fisherman is exactly the sustenance and portrayal of Liu Zongyuan's thoughts and feelings here and now. This poem seems to describe scenery, but actually describes people, which makes the environment.
