Jianhu Lake, located in the belly of Xiahe River in Jiangsu Province, belongs to Yancheng City. 194 1 September, Yancheng county was divided into counties, with Jianyang county in the north. In July, it was renamed as jianhu county, 195 1 because of the same name as Jianyang county in Fujian province, in which the name of "Jianhu" was formed by combining the initials of Jianyang and the lake pile in the county (now facing the lake).

Jianhu Lake is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea, backed by the northern Jiangsu Plain, and is known as the "Pearl of Water Town". Jianhu is one of the top 100 counties (cities) with basic competitiveness of county economy in China, and it is also a civilized county in China.

Jianhu county, located in the hinterland of He Lixia in central Jiangsu, is a famous hometown of acrobatics and Huai Opera. Xinchang Railway, Xu Yan Expressway and Fu Jian Expressway pass through the territory. Area 1 160 square kilometers, including 60700 hectares of cultivated land and 26700 hectares of water surface. The population is 802,500 (registered population of 20 13 years).
