Return to the Road is an urban emotional drama directed by Yu Cuihua, starring Jing Boran and Qi, especially Tian Liang, Wu Yufang and Sha Baoliang, and starring Li Mincheng, Zhang Enshuo, Zhang Baijia, Grace Wai Wong and Zhang Qiaoer. The play premiered on Hunan Satellite TV 14 in March 2023, and was broadcast simultaneously by iQiyi and Mango TV.
The play is based on the novel of the same name by Mo Bao Bao Fei. The film tells the story of Gui Xiao, the investment director, and Lu, the special police officer, reunited after ten years and returned to loyalty and belief.
When they were students, Lu and Gui Xiao were each other's first love. As Lu went to other places to take an examination of the police academy, Gui Xiao's family changed, and their relationship as students ended in vain. When they met again eight years later, the phrase "I didn't know you until you turned to dust" made them understand that they were still obsessed with each other.
