Recently, I suddenly saw a column by an up owner on Station B called "Intelligent Roadblock" explaining Lu Xun. I was deeply shocked. I watched several videos in one breath and realized why Lu Xun is so powerful. It was because others had blown it out, but more because he really had this ability.
Okay, now let me talk about my own opinions on this sentence based on my ignorance.
The origin of this sentence should be traced back to the New Culture Movement, when Qian Xuandong and others were running the magazine "New Youth". When Lu Xun was invited, Lu Xun was unwilling to participate. There are sleeping people in an unbreakable iron house. Do you want them to continue sleeping soundly without pain until they die, or do you want to wake them up to endure the pain of death?
Qian Xuantong said at this time: "Since some people have risen, we cannot say that there is no hope of breaking down this iron house." One person can arouse some people, and then arouse the majority. In this way, the iron house will be broken. It may be broken (the iron house here refers to the extremely decadent feudal system).
Later, Lu Xun wrote this sentence in "Hometown":
Hope does not matter whether it is there or not, just like the road on the earth; in fact, there is no road on the earth. When there are more people walking, it becomes a road
I think that the dialogue between Qian Xuantong and Lu Xun during the New Culture Movement can make people feel the profound meaning of this sentence even more.
In fact, the literal meaning of this sentence is easy to understand, but why it has been circulated as a famous quote to this day, I think it is more to express the "hope" behind it. Is there any hope that the New Culture Movement will succeed? Lu Xun didn't think it was very possible at the time, because Lu Xun had tried to organize this kind of movement before, but all ended in failure. But he succeeded in the end. Why? I think I can answer with this sentence: "When there are more people walking, it becomes a road."
This sentence is still used today, and it also has profound significance for today's society. It tells us that we hope this Planting something is inherently illusory, but if you don't do it and don't fight for hope again and again, then you won't succeed, just like the road on this earth, it must be stepped on by people over and over again.
