"Mingde" comes from "university": the way of university is to be mingde, be close to the people and stop at perfection. "Honesty" comes from the golden mean: only when the world is sincere can we make the best use of it; If you can do your best, you can do your best; If you can make good use of human nature, you can make good use of things; If you can do your best, you can praise the education of the world; If you can praise the education of the world, you can participate in the world. Only when the world is sincere can we understand the great classics of the world, establish the foundation of the world and know the education of the world. "erudite and far-reaching (loyal) ambition" comes from the Analects of Confucius: erudite and loyal, seeking knowledge and thinking near, benevolence in it.
