Eating after fasting is not called fasting, that is called "eating later"; fasting without praying is not called "fasting and praying"; praying without fasting is not called "fasting and praying" "Fast and pray." So what is fasting and prayer?
First, "fasting" means that I do not rely on food, but I want to rely more on God.
Second, "fasting" is not to establish merit, but to fully receive God's merit.
So fasting is not to establish merit, but to abolish people’s merit. This is where Christian fasting differs from other religions. All other religions believe that people will have more merit after fasting. Christianity denies human merit during fasting and relies more on God. Therefore, fasting and praying is to bring my reliance on eating, the supplies I receive, and the time I spend eating before God, relying more on Him and looking up to Him more.
This is called fasting prayer. Third, the Bible does not explicitly stipulate the length of time required for fasting and prayer, nor does it explain exactly what things require fasting.
