A wise man will make mistakes every time he thinks. A fool will surely gain something if he thinks a lot. This is a famous saying from Han Feizi.
It means on the surface. Smart people think too much, and no matter how well they think, there are always omissions. No matter how stupid a person is, as long as you are willing to think and do the stupid method, it will definitely be useful sometimes.
For example, Zhuge Liang during the Three Kingdoms period. He tried every means to defeat Sima Yi's army. The siege reached Huluyu. Prepare to burn all his troops in Hulushi. However, he had calculated that Sima Yi had fallen into his trap, but what he failed to calculate was that although Sima Yi found a fire in the valley, it would rain from the sky. This is actually not a coincidence, Zhuge Liang made an oversight.
Although he knew a lot about astronomy and geography, he did not know modern scientific knowledge. The topography of Huluyu is that the upper part of the valley is colder and the lower part is thermally expanded and contracted. When the hot air gathers, it will be certain. It will rise into the sky and combine with the cold air in the clouds. When hot and cold meet, rain will form. So although there was a fire burning in Hulu Valley, the heat combined with the superior clouds in Hulu Valley, and a heavy rain came, saving Sima Yi.
If Zhuge Liang knew this little knowledge of physics, he would definitely find a way to deal with Sima Yi. However, he was smart and did not think of this, so he failed.
