Now when talking about Liu Bei, there are three sins: first, false origin and willfulness; second, hypocrisy and shamelessness; third, impetuous and betraying his wife and children.
Forgery of origin, hypocrisy can be easily refuted, but it is because of that sentence: brothers are like brothers, wives are like clothes. I have read a lot of materials, especially women, which are very critical of Liu Bei.
However, some people do not believe in this third rule. This person is not an ordinary person. He is the famous historian Sima Guang.
Let’s start with Cao Cao’s punishment of Liu Bei by killing Dong Cheng.
Among the three parts, Chen Shou himself called it Shuhe, but later generations often renamed it Shuzhi, Shuzhi and Wuzhi. Saints such as Sima Guang are not "free from vulgarity". Sima Guang and his assistants also called Yuan Hong's Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms "Han Ji".
After the Dongcheng incident. Cao Cao sent troops to kill Liu Bei.
The generals sent by Cao Cao were Liu Dai and Wang Zhong. This Liu Dai has not only the same name but also the same character as Liu Dai, the governor of Yanzhou who participated in the crusade against Dong Zhuo in the first year of Chuping. Both have the word "Gongshan"; the difference is: Liu Dai, the governor of Yanzhou, was from Muping, Donglai County, Qingzhou; Liu Dai, a subordinate of Cao Cao, was from Guopei, Yuzhou.
Neither Liu Dai nor Wang Zhong were Liu Bei's opponents. Wang Zhong is a "married" trainer with no great qualifications. It was only during the time when Li Jue and Guo Si were fooling around that they began to eat human flesh because of famine everywhere.
Liu Bei said to Liu Dai and Wang Zhong: "A hundred of you can't do anything to me. If Cao comes in person, it's a different matter."
Liu Dai and Wang Zhong After being defeated, he returned to Cao's camp in Guandu and told the truth. So Cao Cao followed Liu Bei's wishes and personally led his troops eastward from Guandu to Xiaopei to seek advice from Liu Bei.
At this time, Liu Bei had tens of thousands of troops, including the troops led by Cao Cao's old subordinate Chang Ba and others in Donghai County. He could compete with Cao Cao, but suddenly he got stage fright. Seeing Cao Cao's banner, he ordered a retreat, abandoned the army and fled, losing his wife and son, and Guan Yu.
