The core spirit of Duncan's dance thought is to follow the laws of nature and express the American spirit, and in her view, these two aspects have been harmoniously reflected in ancient Greek dance. The dance there is "the unity of body gymnastics and mind", "the expression shared by all people" and "the greatest thing above everything itself" ... Duncan is called "the mother of modern dance" because of his "free dance view" that conforms to nature, "expressive dance view" that integrates body and mind, and "future dance view" that transcends historical civilization. Although Duncan didn't leave a systematic movement method and skill for modern dancers, her dance concept did trigger a comprehensive and real revival of dance culture-the revival of returning to life, respecting life and expressing life.
